The Dharma School Garden

The Dharma Primary School in Daylesford is renowned for its holistic approach to education, and its expansive 24-acre “Living Classroom” is at the heart of that mission. The Rotary Club of Daylesford has been a proud partner in transforming this landscape into a productive and educational sanctuary for students. Our involvement centered on the “greening” of the school grounds, where we provided the essential funding and labor to establish a flourishing orchard and vegetable precinct.

By supplying dozens of fruit trees and custom-built garden boxes, we helped create a space where children move beyond textbooks to learn the rhythms of nature. This garden is more than just a patch of soil; it is a place where students practice mindfulness while weeding, understand biology through composting, and experience the rewards of sustainable agriculture during harvest.

For Rotary, supporting the Dharma School garden was an investment in the wellbeing of our local youth. It provides a peaceful environment that fosters environmental stewardship and community connection. Today, the garden serves as a vibrant outdoor hub where families and students gather, ensuring that the next generation grows up with a deep, hands-on appreciation for the land that sustains us.
